Personalizing your big day is important, and Jordan + Stephen had a unique wedding you have to see! They filled their wedding with personal touches including doughnut towers at their reception, cute getting ready outfits and a floating flower monogram. Take a look at some of our favorite photos from this wedding, and check out the bride’s amazing blog post for more photos.

Q: What location did you pick to have your wedding and why did you choose this place?
“We got married in the yard of the house I grew up in. Out of every place in the world, there’s no where else we would’ve rather celebrated that special day. No one will ever be able to say they got married in the same place (unless my brother decides to, of course!), which makes that day even more special to us.”

Q: Did you have a particular theme or color scheme? Is there a story behind this color theme and why you chose it?
“The best way to describe our ‘theme’ is rustic elegance. Since the reception was in a tent in the middle of the woods basically, I wanted our guests to feel like they were still surrounded by nature, but with small touches of class and elegance dispersed throughout. Our color scheme was sky blue with metallics and wildflowers (there was no specific colors for these, just light colors with lots of greenery).”

Q: Why did you choose Azazie for your bridesmaids?
“There are so many reasons why we went with Azazie that I wrote an entire blog post about it on jordanjean.com! We had such a great experience with them. I would suggest over and over again to use Azazie!”

Q: Any tips or advice for anyone getting married soon?
“1. Do your research. There are so many great vendors and options out there. It takes quite some time and a lot of patience but if you want to find something within your vision and price range, it’s worth the work.
2. Pick what you love and stick with it. There will ALWAYS be other beautiful options that pop up along the planning process. Questioning your decisions will just lead to headache and stress. You don’t need that! Especially during wedding planning!
3. Stop comparing. Your wedding day will be beautiful, a blast, and most importantly, you’ll officially be married to your other half. It is YOUR day! Don’t worry about how others did it or are going to do it, just celebrate the way you and your fiancee want to!”

Q: Did you enjoy the wedding planning process? Why or why not?
“In general, yes, definitely. My mom and I did the entire thing from the choosing the dance floor to managing the catering staff. It made the wedding even more special to us. Now, I will say, having the wedding at the house added quite a bit of hurdles and stress but looking back on the planning process and the day, we’d do it over and over again if we could.”

Q: Describe your wedding in one word.
“Unforgettable.”

Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
“Try to keep everything in perspective. The week leading up to our wedding was absolute chaos. It rained every single day until about 1 hour before the tent went up. Since the soaked ground was then covered by the tent and couldn’t get dried out quickly by the sun, our reception was pretty much a muddy mess. My dress, along with all of our beautiful bridesmaid’s dresses had mud all over them. But do you know what? Not only was the weather on the wedding day itself beautiful, but we were surrounded by all of our loved ones, dancing our butts off to great music, and we were finally married. It was the best day ever. “
