Real #Azazie Wedding | Stephanie & Sebastian

1. Why did you decide to elope?

We originally were going to get married in May 2021, and we’ve been engaged since June 2019. More details in the following answers – but the quick version of it was just due to numerous circumstances – our original venue and date were lost and with the uncertainty of the state of the world – we figured why not? As for our choice in when – it happened to be our 10 year anniversary of being together – so it made for a very meaningful wedding date (Dec 7, 2020).

2. Where did you get married?

I found this beautiful little venue online called The Garden Strathcona where we are from, Vancouver, BC, Canada! It’s a gorgeous little cafe that has an event space on the 2nd floor that we were able to rent. It has brick walls, lots of greenery and string lights – the perfect aesthetic for a minimal and intimate event.

3. Which rules & regulations did you have to keep in mind?

Our province at the time has rules about gatherings – so we had to keep under 10 guests (including officiant, vendors, etc.) and the venue made sure to follow proper social distancing and cleaning protocols.

4. If you were affected by Covid, how did it affect your plans? Save the date, number of guests? Vendors? New wedding date for a larger celebration?

Like I mentioned previously, we originally were going to get married in May of 2021 with a large guestlist (over 100). We had booked our venue prior to COVID19 happening, but around the end of summer 2020, they contacted us and they were unable to renew their lease for 2021 – thus our event was cancelled. Luckily we got our deposit back, and originally we were thinking or rebooking for that same weekend. However, in the fall, the case numbers were getting worse and we knew that realistically if we had our wedding in May – there would be a LOT of regulations to follow that would have made it very difficult to plan. Sebastian and I both have lots of family and friends from outside of the province and country, and things like a dance floor were super important to us. Therefore – the elopement idea! We still want to have our big reception one day though, when it is safe to do so again.

5. How did you choose Azazie for your special day?

I had previously looked at Azazie for possible bridesmaid dresses, but then with the “big” wedding on hold – I started looking at fun alternative wedding dresses. I wanted something a bit different, and I love pink – and I remember when I had browsed through the bridesmaid dress options really loving some of them, so I took a look for myself for a possible wedding dress and found one I loved!

6. What is the style and color of your dress?

I ended up choosing the Valeria dress in Dusty Rose. Beautiful colour – and very “princess-like” with the tulle. I’m a huge fan of the off-the-shoulder style as well, so I’m very happy with my choice. Thanks so much!
